I know many of you who want to run CyanogenMod ROM like CM14 on your Galaxy S7 Edge. While CyanogenMod Team have officially quit developing for Samsung Exynos-based phones, you are in luck as another team called Lineage OS have picked up the S7 Edge and brought AOSP (What is AOSP?) ROM fully working on the S7 Edge. Now, this ROM is ONLY for international Galaxy S7 Edge models including the SM-G935F, SM-G935FD, SM-G935W8(Canadian), and SM-G935S/K/L(Korean) models.
Based on latest Android 7.1.1 sources, Lineage OS ROM will bring you pure Google Android to you Galaxy S7 Edge, allowing you to experience the best of Android 7.1.1 Nougat instead of being stuck with Android 7.0 Nougat (which is the latest TouchWiz update). This ROM has a few customizations including soft navigation button option, status bar tweaks, and all new features from Android 7.1.1 Nougat. It is not the most customizable ROM but I expect there will be many variants/offsprings coming out of this ROM and we can expect ROMs like Resurrection Remix or AOKP coming to it soon. The only thing not working on this ROM is 4K video recording (while 1080P video works fine) and WiFi hotspot.
Of course, if you are still on Snapdragon-based S7 Edge, you are out of luck as those still have locked bootloaders. If you want to enjoy your S7 Edge to the fullest, we do highly suggest grabbing an international model like we did. Overall, this is an excellent ROM so definitely give it a test drive this week(end) and do let me know what you think!
